A two-vehicle accident happened at the EZ Mart parking lot in Decatur, Arkansas late Wednesday night. Both drivers had to go to the hospital. Donald Switzer, who lived in Gentry, lost consciousness and his foot was stuck on the gas petal according to the police report.
Misael Santa-Santiago was sitting in the driver's seat of his car parked at the EZ Mart when Switzer's truck struck him. Interestingly, by the time the police arrived Switzer's back tire has burned away and the rim had dug three to four inches in the asphalt before Switzer was removed from the truck. Switzer was determined dead upon the scene and Santiago, who had prior back problems, needed medical treatment. Hopefully, Santiago will fully recover from this terrible wreck.
