I most often use this space to write about topics that are distressing and life-threatening. It is, therefore, so refreshing to write about a local farmer who has used ingenuity and creativity to win a national Farm Bureau award.

James Simpson, a farmer from Cave Springs, a small community in Benton county in northwest Arkansas, developed a double bale spike which allows a large tractor to move three round bales of hay at a time instead of just two. Simpson represented Arkansas at the Farm Bureau National Convention in New Orleans in January.
Simpson, a Benton county Farm Bureau vice president, won the American Farm Bureau's Farmer Idea Exchange competition. He also won an additional award for the most cost effective entry in the contest. We here at the Bailey and Oliver Law Firm in Bentonville are so pleased to commend Mr. Simpson for his hard work and dedication to the ideals that support this great country.
