Harley Revs Up Auction During Hospice Fundraiser

I completely stole that title from the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, but since I am giving them full credit, I hope it will be ok. The title is so true though. During a great auction, we successfully raised thousands and thousands of dollars for Circle of Life Hospice. I can say we for several reasons. First, my wife’s momma and step-dad, Gareth and Cindy Smith, bought the Harley Davidson. Second, I was the auctioneer.
Auctioneering is one of my favorite hobbies and I have a bunch of fun doing it. Also, I only auction charity events so we are always able to raise money for those who need it the most. If you’re wondering, I don’t charge a fee or commission to auction for charity… that would be an oxymoron, it seems.
This event was so well organized and fun that everyone had a blast. We had several auction items: A $15,000 custom VRSCD Night Rod with liquid-cooled 125-horsepower engine, chrome engine covers, mid-mount controls, speed screen visor Harley Davidson which brought $11,500, a 14-karat two tone gold diamond and topaz pendant which brought $9,100 purchased by Fadil Bayyari, a package including four crown seat tickets to a home Kansas City Royals game which brought $2,500 purchased by Carla Tyson, and few more.
With over 900 people in attendance the event raised approximately $140,000 for Hospice. WOW! I want to send a shout out to Teri Stafford and Amy Bushaw with Circle of Life and everyone else who helped with the event…GREAT JOB!!!
